Questions

Does my phone still ring?

Yes. Your phone rings first, like always. SpamEnder only answers the calls you don't pick up (after about 4 rings, or when you decline). It doesn't stop the first ring of a spam call.

Which calls get blocked before screening?

Numbers on your own block list, and numbers on SpamEnder's scam blocklist: numbers our AI screening has caught as spam for 5 or more different members. We don't buy or use outside blocklists. Blocked callers hear a short goodbye, can't leave a voicemail, and never ring you; the call still shows in your call log. Calls with no caller ID are screened, not blocked. If a number you want is blocked, add it to your accepted list and it rings straight through.

How do I turn it off or undo forwarding?

Dial *73 on Verizon and most CDMA phones, or ##61# (then ##004# to clear all conditional forwarding) on AT&T, T-Mobile and most others. You can also turn off call forwarding in your carrier's app. Do this before you cancel, or your missed calls keep going to your old SpamEnder number.

What about 911 and emergencies?

SpamEnder never touches calls you make, including 911. For incoming calls, anything that sounds urgent (police, fire, hospital, school, a 911 dispatcher calling back, a bank fraud alert) is put through to you or taken as an urgent message, never ended as spam. Calls from short codes and 3-digit numbers ring straight through. Still, don't rely on SpamEnder for emergency call-backs: if you're expecting one, answer your phone.

Are calls recorded? Do callers know it's automated?

Every caller first hears: "Hi, you've reached an automated assistant screening calls for [your first name]. This call may be recorded." The audio is processed live by our AI provider to screen the call. Transcripts and summaries are kept for your call report; voice messages are kept so you can listen to them.

What if SpamEnder or the AI is down?

Callers are never left in silence. If the assistant is unavailable, slow, or at its limit, the caller hears a short message and can leave a voicemail, and you get the recording in your call report. If our whole service is down, Twilio plays a backup message and records a voicemail.

Will automated calls I want get through?

Yes. Recorded calls from your bank, pharmacy, school, doctor, airline or delivery service are taken as a message, and any number on your accepted list rings straight through. The optional "press 1" robot check is off by default because recorded calls can't press keys.

Who can sign up?

Anyone with a US mobile number that can forward calls. Google Fi doesn't support the no-answer forwarding SpamEnder needs, so Fi isn't supported yet. Outside the US? Add your country to the waitlist on our home page.

What about roaming, dual-SIM, porting, or prepaid plans?

Forwarding can reset when you change carriers or port your number, so check it after any change. Some prepaid plans charge for forwarded minutes. While roaming abroad, forwarded calls may cost extra on your carrier's side. Wi-Fi calling usually works like normal.

What does it cost?
  • 7 days free. No card needed.
  • Then $10 a month, enough for normal use.
  • If you hit the monthly limit, callers can still leave a message, or you can add $10 more.
  • Invite 5 friends who subscribe and get a free month.
